So, Gormal and others have suggested that Ideas for game play and classes go here...
Where to start.
I myself. would like to see some of the classes, that have been made obsolete over the years with updates to the game be given some love. Hopefully that is something we all can agree on. What ideas to suggest and eventually put in? That is a totally different thing.
Personally I would like to see some new things with bards and psi class.
The ideas that i have for bard would be building from the way sorcerers work, with inspiration points being build up over time with other powers.
One sub-class i would like to see with bard is a blade-singer.
This class would concentrate more on melee and augmentation of party members with short term buffs that use IP, inspiration points.
Through melee powers. for example.
Blade Flourish: Power that adds extra damage and 1 IP
Defensive Flourish: adds AC and save bonus for short time and IP
Words of Terror: adds fear and an IP
Mantle of Whispers: adds resistances
CounterCharm: like counterspell.
Bardic Inspriation:
I would like to see this ability split up into several powers that would augment spellcasting raise spell power for sorcerer, or raise spell focus for a short time.
Combat inspiration. which would add to hit and dam roll of party members for a short time.
With the blade-singer subclass it would be possible to both circle and to backstab. since singing is replaced by aoe buff powers.
Healing Words: Power do add HOT to party member.
i would like to hear other ideas about blade singer subclass, i think it would make bards a lot less of an afk class and allow both targeted and group buffs. I would like to see bard be able to be a less afk and more vital to parties than area heals.

One of the last big posts I made on the official forums was about bards, then they got corrupted and years of posts were lost and I stopped using them.


My experience with bards is limited to Toril and Scanlan pretty much, but I liked the idea of a bard singing, but then having a verse/phrase ability that does a beefed up spell based on whatever song you're singing. So you're singing heal, you use the ability and can focus a small heal on 3 people or something. You're singing offensive harmony and you can berserk a group member. The possibilities are pretty endless.

Totally agree on bards getting some kind of inspiration ability and counterspell. Pretty iconic for the class.

Took a 20+ year break. Came back to some huge changes, and advancements. The fact that Bards and Rogues didn't get a melee update was strange. Love the concepts shared here for Bards. A good, well thought out support role that multiplies group effectiveness would put them back in the need column. However, they also need to have the ability to find group independence when needed.

I tell the kids that before graphics games the first AAA release was IX and the Psi class. Excitement level 11 that week! Now they are glorified taxis. No idea how to tweak them though.

Silvanus made a lot of good changes for psis and they do have value, they're just kind of glass pistol instead of a cannon.
